The first camping trip I took with my husband and daughter was to Owens River (Lake Crawley) it was so beautiful. We caught great trout and crawdads (big ones). The river was so clear. We checked out many rivers while we were there. We took a tape recorder(don't want to date myself) but we still listen to that tape and our daughter out on the boat talking about the bbbbbullfrogs that we heard at night from inside our tent. She was about 4 then and she tried her first rice pudding sorry to say she chummed a bit. Never tasted the stuff since. lol. We have been back as recently as this year only this time we took our travel trailers the daughter her husband and the two grand daughters. They caught fish and even though they didn't like eating them they still loved to fish. AH those are the days.!

Have not camped there, but have camped a lot of places in California.
Convict Lake (near there) is very nice. Rock Creek Canyon up from Toms Cabin is great.
In Sept. I hiked a few miles Sonora Pass to Leavitt Lake area and camped by one of the lakes there.
No one for miles, full moon, good cigar, it was great!

We went for a drive after leaving Crawley back then, we went by Leavitt Lake. What a great site. My husband has always wanted to g0 back and camp there. He camped a couple of times around Convict with the nephews when they were growing up.
This year we stayed at Mammoth and fished at Crawley. You can't find an ugly site any where in that area.

Hello,
We thank you for joining on our first day.
You seem knowledgeable on Social Networking sites, we are looking for some ideas to expand this to a large number of members. If you have any ideas how to do so, please let us know.
Also you can see some of your photos scrolling on our main site: www.caoutdoors.com.

Have you tried to put your "site" address LINK on Camping World, KOA, RV, 1000 Trails,Mammoth,Redwoods, anyplace people would look to locate a camping site for Calif.?
I just happened to be looking up some places online and came across your site. FIRST DAY HUH? AWESOME!!!
Have you made a UTUBE Video of a great place in Calif or something really crazy? Take a doll or rock or something and show it around your area sitting it hear and there. Ask the people if they can guess where you are? Everything in life has a gimick you just have to find out what will spark the attention of people. Treasure hunts are good.I have made many. They have to come to your site to get clues to find the "Treasure". Word of Mouth is a big thing. You just have to come up with something people want. Radio stations , FREE ADS. Put the blurp in anything you can . Have it put in upside down. Makes people look harder at it.
Hey anything I can do to help. I have already sent it to everyone on my email list. I think it would be a great benefit to anyone in California or anywhere if they want to travel to Calif. Check out other sites(other states) that are doing the same as you and see what they have done.
I have seen so many sites that are free for awhile then after they get bigger they start charging for their site. If you put something in Free Ads that says the first 100 ? 200 ? 10000? people to join will be given whatever maybe registration free for life. ?? Whatever you want to go to number wise. Give some free 2 day camping trip to the 100 or 1000 person to sign up. Just thoughts. Use them or delete them from your mind & computer.
Sell something on EBAY that has to do with your site. Put Gold ,jewels, ets in the head line so you get more people looking at the auction.
Good Luck guys and God Bless.
Thank you for your ideas, I especially like the one about where am I in California.
The Treasure Hunt is excellent also, not sure how to implement it.
Caoutdoors.com has been around almost 10 years, (we also have roughly 10 others) and it has roughly 50,000 visitors per month. Traffic is higher in the spring and summer.
Also, Google keeps changing their search algorithms which affect traffic.
The Social Networking pop up as an idea two weeks ago, and went live the day you signed up. We thought it might generate more traffic.
We would like to make it all inclusive for outdoor activities in CA.
Right now we are looking at the budget to see how we can add some video equipment.
We will probably start giving prizes for best photo and video for the week or month, something like a gift card at REI, or Cabela’s. We may wait until after Christmas season.
Please send any other thoughts.
Still Sequoia National Park, although the beaches of California are still one of my favorites as well. The Sierra are without a doubt some of the most beautiful mountains in the world, and those giant trees are something to behold.
Hi Chuck
The thaw is on so the CAOutdoors is great place to get started...
It's getting to be vacation weather. The 100's have been seen and it is back into the low 60's once more (I am sure not for long). Do you have plans for Memorial day? Lake Isabella is the plan for us.
Trout fishing and a bit of site seeing. Maybe a bit of gold panning. Good friends and the grand daughters 5 & 8.
Sequoia may be on the map also. God Bless you and your plans. Dee
